PROJECT FOR THE REALIZATION OF UPPER LIMB PROSTHESES
The goal of this work is to develop an upper limb prosthesis to be used in developing nations. In carrying out this plan, the following requisites have emerged:
- Economy in manufacture and maintenance;
- Facility of use;
- Efficiency and effectiveness.
The videos shows the last prototipe version: the first is an anthropomorphic hand (like human hand it has three joints for each finger and two joints for the thumb), the second is a prostheses with a classic grip. Both the hand are actuated by McKibben muscles, utilizing hydraulic energy instead of body power.

The work done up to the present has been based above all (in addition to the contribution of the members of the association) on the development project carried out by some students of the Faculty of Engineering of Genoa, who have decided to dedicate their specialist degree theses to this issue. In addition, all this has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the Engineers Without Frontiers organisation, which has always supported these types of initiatives. Thanks is also due to certain university professors from the Faculty of Engineering who have made themselves available to support the plan and have put their laboratories at the disposition of the project.
